Beehive State expected to do well in NFL Draft, says The Sporting News

As the NFL Draft approaches, so, too, do the seven-round mocks. The Sporting News unveiled its predictions with BYU and the state of Utah fairly well represented.

BYU quarterback Zach Wilson (Corner Canyon HS) and Oregon offensive tackle Penei Sewell (Desert Hills HS) are expected to go second and fifth overall in the first round. Wilson is projected to be taken by the New York Jets and Sewell is ticketed for the Cincinnati Bengals.

USC defensive tackle Jay Tufele (Bingham HS) is picked to go to the New Orleans Saints in the second round (60th overall), while Stanford wide receiver Simi Fehoko (Brighton HS) is being tabbed as a sixth-round selection (216th overall) by the Pittsburgh Steelers.

It’s anticipated that BYU will have four late draftees. Offensive tackle Brady Christensen leads the way. He’s slated to go in the fifth round (162nd overall) to the Las Vegas Raiders. In the sixth round, wide receiver Dax Milne (No. 191) and defensive tackle Khyiris Tonga (No. 197) are expected to be taken by the Denver Broncos and New England Patriots, respectively. Offensive guard Tristen Hoge is projected to go in the seventh round (No. 245) to the Steelers.

The NFL Draft is April 29-May 1.
