NBA FINALS: What could have been for the Jazz

SALT LAKE CITY — Perhaps the legendary John Lennon put it best. Check that, he did put it it best.

When it comes to the Utah Jazz and the 2021 NBA Finals, it isn’t hard to imagine. Yes, it’s easy if you try.

Several of the biggest stars from Phoenix and Milwaukee were in position to be drafted by the Jazz back in the day. A quick look and something to mention around the water cooler.

— CHRIS PAUL, Suns: Utah used the No. 3 overall pick to select Deron Williams in 2005. The next player taken that year was Paul.

— DEVIN BOOKER, Suns: This one hurts. The Jazz decided to drafted Trey Lyles at No. 12 in 2015, one spot ahead of his Kentucky teammate Booker.

— GIANNIS ANTETOKOUNMPO, Bucks: The Jazz drafted Shabazz Muhammad in a pre-arranged deal with the Minnesota Timberwolves in the 2013 draft. Muhammad went 13th overall. Milwaukee took Antetokounmpo with the very next pick.
