UPDATE: Check out a special tribute on utahutes.com.
SALT LAKE CITY — Police have confirmed that Utah cornerback Aaron Lowe was the victim of a deadly shooting in the Sugar House area on Sunday morning, according to ABC4.com.
Details regarding the shooting were thin but officials have stated the incident happened around midnight, leaving Lowe killed another in critical condition.
While already heartbreaking as it is, what makes Lowe’s death even more unbelievably sad is his connection to another late Utah star, Ty Jordan, who was killed by an accidental gunshot wound last Christmas.
Lowe and Jordan were best friends in high school and arrived on scholarship at Utah together. After Jordan’s passing, Lowe was named the recipient of a scholarship created in Jordan’s memory and also switched his number to Jordan’s 22.
Both Dirk and Austin give their condolences to those who knew and loved Lowe, as well as Jordan, and the entire Utah football family, which has always been so gracious and loving to our own family.
It’s impossible to know what else to say, this is such a gut-wrenching ordeal for the Utes.
