PROVO — Utah (1-0) and BYU (1-0) square off in the Rivalry Game this Saturday (8:15 p.m., ESPN) at LaVell Edwards Stadium. The Utes are seeking a record 10th consecutive victory in the series. They’ve won nine straight dating back to 2010.
BYU COACH KALANI SITAKE after Saturday’s 24-16 win over Arizona: “I am really happy about the win. Obviously, there is a lot of things that we can improve on. I give a lot of credit to Arizona. Their coaching staff did a great job getting their guys ready to play, be motivated and once we got things figured out they just kept fighting through it. I was really proud of the fight from our team to respond and find a way to get the win. I am glad we got the win and find a way to improve from week one to week two.”
UTAH COACH KYLE WHITTINGHAM after Thursday’s 40-17 win over Weber State: “We had a bunch of stuff and I got tired of writing it down in the first quarter. We gave up a kickoff return for a touchdown. We dropped a touchdown pass. We had to burn a timeout before a field goal because we only had 10 guys out there. We dropped two more balls. We missed a PAT after a delay of game. We have a whole laundry list of stuff to work on this week. It will keep us busy. As coaches and players we have to be better next week.”
